A growing collection of real-world digital work
RetroDev Studio is in the process of assembling a curated set of projects and case studies that reflect long-term, practical digital work rather than one-off builds.
Many projects span multiple years, evolve over time, or involve systems that are not always publicly visible. This section will focus on documenting decisions, structure, and outcomes with care, rather than rushing to publish surface-level showcases.
Sample client work
The following examples represent a small sample of the types of client work RetroDev Studio has delivered. This is not an exhaustive client list. These projects have been selected because they are top of mind and illustrate long-term support, real operational needs, and thoughtful system design. RetroDev Studio was previously known as Copper Owl Development. Some testimonials reflect work delivered under that name. Additional sample projects and full case studies will be added as documentation is completed or permission is obtained.

Heather is very responsive to requests for quick action. The company website was down and she fixed it promptly. Later that day she re-checked to make sure it was still working. We will definitely use them again as we are refreshing our website.
- Parkland Drilling
Long-term website and systems support focused on stability, maintainability, and operational clarity. This ongoing relationship reflects RetroDev Studio’s emphasis on building digital systems that can evolve reliably over time. - Northern Rockies Arts Council
Website and digital support for a regional arts organization, including related program and event sites. This work highlights the balance between community needs, limited resources, and sustainable digital infrastructure. - Ross Roxburgh
Website and digital presence development for a now-retired client. While the site is no longer active, the project will serve as a case study demonstrating design decisions, content structure, and long-term maintenance considerations. - Campbell River Highland Gathering
Website setup and refresh to support the event’s launch timeline in 2025. Time was donated to get the site up and running on their Wix hosted site for the 2025 season, focusing on structure, clarity, and basic usability so organizers had a functional public presence in place. The subsequent paid contract was awarded to another developer. This project serves as an example of rapid, community-focused delivery under real-world constraints.

… created and maintains our website and provides ongoing general IT support. We are very happy with the results of a well-designed website and user-friendly navigation that was created. We would highly recommend having them provide your internet business needs!
Independent and in-progress projects
In addition to client work, RetroDev Studio maintains several independent projects that support experimentation, deeper systems understanding, and improved client outcomes.
These projects are developed intentionally and iteratively, and will be documented here as they mature.
Current independent initiatives include:
- A custom PHP framework and CMS focused on clarity, predictable structure, and long-term maintainability
- The RetroDev Studio Client Portal, designed to centralize project documentation and communication
- Totally Tidy Tech, a digital mentoring and organization initiative focused on helping individuals and small organizations regain clarity and control over their digital lives
What to expect next
Over time, this section will expand to include deeper case studies outlining project goals, constraints, technical decisions, and outcomes. The emphasis will remain on systems that are understandable, maintainable, and built to last.
